CANTON — The St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees has settled on a location for a new dormitory.

The dorm will be located off of the campus’s Quad, a grassy lawn near the Noble Center and the Gunnison Chapel. A parking lot and access road will be removed to make space for the new building.

The university hired Northland Associates, of Liverpool as the general contractor for the estimated $12 million project.

The school raised around $3 million for the project, and plans on raising the rest as needed.

Architecture firm Sacco & McKinney of Latham will design the new residence hall, which will house 150 students and is expected to be complete for the 2014 fall semester.
