The only goal of the third period proved to be the game-winner as Plattsburgh High School downed Ogdensburg Free Academy 3-2 in nonleague intersectional hockey game on Saturday at the Edgar Newell Memorial Golden Dome .
The Hornets (2-0) Eric Bechard picked up his second assist of the day as Andrew Bechard broke a 2-2 tie 4:46 into the third period netting a rebound opportunity. The Hornets answered the second of two goals by Jake Garrison who tied the game at 2-2 at 8:33 of the second period for the Blue Devils (1-1) who will look to rebound with NAC Division 2 games: at St. Lawrence Central on Monday and at home against Norwood-Norfolk on Friday.
Jake Garrison had two very nice goals today on quick shots and Dave Prudhomme played pretty well in goal, said OFA Coach Jon Frederick.
But we have to play our positions better in the defensive zone and we cant play from the penalty box like we did today.
Garrison opened the scoring at 9:28 of the first period burying a power play set up from Brandon Mullin.
Plattburgh took a 2-1 lead in the second period as Jack Tolosky tied the score at 2:01 and set up a go-ahead tally by Eric Bechard at 5:59 on a power play. Garrison pulled the Devils even with rising wrist shot through traffic at 8:33 of the middle stanza off a pass from Drew Costigan. Prudhomme finished with 26 saves for OFA and Robby Knowles stopped 20 shots for Plattsburgh.
