SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health announced Friday that it will reduce its staff by 17 positions in a restructuring.

Eight other unfilled positions will remain vacant. A third of the 17 jobs lost were management positions.

Also as part of the restructuring, leadership and management staff members will not get raises through 2013; a 340-B drug pricing program will be used for buying pharmaceutical products, which will save $1.5 million; and an outside firm will perform transcription services, saving $250,000 per year.

Adirondack Health is composed of Adirondack Medical Center, Adirondack Medical Center/Lake Placid, Mountain Health Center in Keene, Lake Placid Health Center, Tupper Lake Health Center, Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid and Adirondack Dental Service in Lake Placid. The group employs more than 900 people.
