The Devils fell behind 36-26 after three quarters and used a 21-9 fourth quarter run to defeat Carthage 47-45 for a third straight victory heading into Fridays NAC Central home game with Potsdam.
OFAs took the lead with just under 10 seconds remaining on a Meg Dodge basket and the defensive pressure in a player-to-player matchup was a sustained difference in the game.
Defensively we went from 1-3-1 and box-and-one to man-to-man in the second half and we did a fantastic job in the fourth quarter. Offensively, we had some excellent contributions from Riley Luckie, Felicia Barr and Meg Dodge. This was a very solid win, said Blevins whose team improved to 3-1 (2-0 Central) on the season.
Luckie buried five threes, including two in the fourth quarter, in a 20 point, four assist, and two steal performance. Felicia Barr scored nine of her 10 points in the fourth quarter including five of six at the foulline complemented by eight boards and two steals. Meg Dodge added a 10 points including three points in the fourth to go with seven rebounds and four assists. Susie Morrow added six points and two assists and Shannon Tooley contributed six rebounds.
Lexi Smith scored 12, Kayla Gonzalez added 11 and Zaklya Saunders added 10 for Carthage (1-3).
Massena 59, Potsdam 48: The visiting Lady Raiders scored the first 12 points of the game but had to overcome a 26-23 halftime deficit to come away with their first Central win of the season.
Alisha Jacobs fired through eight three-pointers to finish with a game-high 26 points in the winning effort. Marissa Manley controlled the paint for 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sydney Thompson (6 rebounds) and Samantha Villnave (5 rebounds) added six points.
Shanielle Chambers (6 rebounds, 3 assists) netted a team-high 15 points, including three threes, to anchor a balanced Potsdam offense and Breanna Sapp finished with three three-pointers in a 13-point contribution. Taylor Bonno added 10 points.
Salmon River 46, Malone 41: The visiting Lady Shamrocks (3-1, 2-1) sealed their second straight division win with a 7-3 fourth-quarter advantage. Taylor Francis led a balanced Salmon River offense with 14 points and Morgan Fountain paced the Lady Huskies with 12 point.
