ALEXANDRIA BAY — Lorraine Beard scored a game-high 15 points, including 10 from the free-throw line, as Alexandria defeated Copenhagen, 44-33, in a Frontier League “D” Division girls basketball game on Wednesday night.

The Purple Ghosts (3-2 overall, 2-1 league) converted nine of 11 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter, including a 5-of-7 effort by Beard in the final period.

Rachael Calhoun scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Alexandria (3-2, 2-1).

Hannah Lynch finished with 11 points for the Purple Ghosts.

The Golden Knights (2-1) were paced by Cassidy O’Donnell’s seven points.

Alexandria scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, after holding a 29-25 advantage over the Golden Knights through three quarters.

BOYS BASKETBALL

CARTHAGE 54, CAMDEN 36

Peyton McLaurin finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals to spark the Comets to a nonleague victory at Camden.

Ben Martin added 10 points for Carthage (4-1).

Ryan McCarthy scored 19 points for Camden (2-2).

VOLLEYBALL

SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, THOUSAND ISLANDS 1

Katie Elmer supplied 12 kills and two blocks to help the Spartans to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 Frontier League interdivision victory at Clayton.

Breanna Laflesh hit seven kills, and Leah Denny provided 10 assists and two aces for South Jefferson (5-1, 4-1).

For the Vikings, Chloe Mason generated seven kills and four blocks.

Autumn Dutcher recorded five kills and four aces, and Amie Ferguson distributed nine assists for Thousand Islands (1-5).
