Heuvelton secured a sweep over Morristown and the Hammond Girls stayed undefeated on the young season in Firdays Northern Conference West Division Basketball action on Friday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Heuvelton 50, Morristown 41: Cody Holland erupted for 33 points including 11 at the foulline leading the visiting Bulldogs.
Cody just played a great game tonight. He finally used his size and ability. Both he and Mike Guardino really carried this team, said HCS Coach Josh McAllister after his Bulldogs took a 23-16 halftime lead after a 15-14 first quarter advantage.
Zach Kanaly generated 10 points for Morristown. Bobby Simmons added nine followed by eight from Devin Dulmage, seven from Dakota Marshall and five from Skyler Cobb.
St. Regis 83, Salmon River 23: A 23-7 second quarter advantage helped the Saints (4-0) pullaway in NAC East action.
Brandon Votra led the balanced St. Regis Falls attack with Louis Goodrow following with 17. Corey LaBounty added 16 points as Ryan Duquette and Caleb Green scored 13 and 12 points.
Josh Hynes led the Shamrocks with 14 points as Dylan Whitehead added six points.
B-M 55, P-H 31, Zach Burnett led a balanced winning offense with 15 points followed by Justin Lavarnway with 12 and Adam Martin with nine. Connor Sullivan anchored the P-H scoresheet with 13 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Heuvelton 54, Morristown 11: Macy Richardson paced a balanced Heuvelton effort with 12 points and eight rebounds. Logan Tallman and Alexis Weidner (three steals) each scored eight points while Olivia St. Pierre (eight boards, three blocks) and Hannah Thornhill each scored seven points. Maddie St. Pierre collected four boards, three assists and two points while Rachel Thornhill added three steals and two points.
Jordyn Tulley generated four points for Morristown. Elissa Baldwin added three. Mikayla Roberts and Mackenzie Barse each scored two.
Hammond 45, Edwards-Knox 28: Mikayla Horton generated 11 points and Alyssa Crosby and Emily Bush each scored 10 lifting the 4-0, 3-0 NAC West Devils past the host Cougars (0-6, 0-4 NAC West), Brianna Langtry added six more for Hammond which led 28-14 at half.
Katie Smith scored nine for E-K.
Harrisville Tournament
Harrisville 41, Beaver River 36: A 11-2 second quarter and a 11-4 third quarter fueled a Harrisville break from a 13-13 first quarter tie. Kathleen Coloney scored 16 points and pulled down 10 boards. Chelsea Pierce added nine points and nine rebounds. A. Cornell scored 13 for Beaver River.
The Pirates play Salmon River in the finals tonight at 7:45 p.m. The Shamrocks beat Watertown IHC.
Tupper Lake 40, B-M 30: The Lumberjacks broke open a close game with a 14-7 run in the third quarter as Katie Stuart tossed through a game-high 21 points followed by Lindsey Maroun with 10.
Arielle Gary led the Lady Panthers with six points.
