Jackets roll past Larries, Colts top Flyers


MADRID - Madrid-Waddington took care business on Thursday in Northern Athletic Conference Boys Basketball action against St. Lawrence Central, rolling to a 70-43 win.

The Jackets (4-1, 3-1 NAC North) sealed the win with a 16-1 second quarter run to take a 35-16 halftime lead against the visiting Larries (2-4, 1-2 NAC North).

Colin O’Bryan hit three three’s in a 15-point, 13-rebound and 10-assist triple double. Greg Thompson added six boards and eight points while Marcus Rease added 11 points. TJ Gagno added eight points off the bench while Richard Wright added eight.

“Colin really had a great game and Greg rebounded well. As a team we did a good job on the boards,” said M-W Coach Aaron Jones, whose team looks forward to a meeting with Edwards-Knox in the Burkman Tournament at Canton next week.

“Edwards-Knox was a very solid team last year in our division and this year, they’re one of the teams to beat in the NAC West. It should be a great first round game,” said Jones.

Josh White scored 14 points for the Larries. Zane Ramsdell added 12 .

Colton-Pierrepont 44, Norwood-Norfolk 37: Brent Hoyt scored 15 points, including nine free throws and Zach Farr and Ethan Knight each scored eight for the Colts (4-3, 2-2 NAC East) who came back from a 8-4 first quarter deficit against the Flyers (0-8, 0-5 NAC North).

Dan Devine paced N-N with 14 points while Brandon Sawyer and Garrett Waite each scored 10.


Chateaugay 57, Brushton-Moria 31: Courtney Boyea scored 31 points, with 21 coming on 3-point baskets, to lead the Bulldogs (4-0) past Brushton-Moira in an East Division game in Chateaugay.

Makayla Fleury added 14 points for Chateaugay. Caitlyn LaPage led the Panthers (0-5, 0-4) with 15 points.
