OFA Boys climb to 8-1


PLATTSBURGH - On Friday, OFA made a long trip to Plattsburgh State and came home with an 8-1 record after downing Beekantown 76-48 in the first day of the Section 10 Vs Section 7 Boys Basketball Challenge.

Today, the Blue Devils will make the short trip to SUNY Potsdam to face a stern test against Ausable Valley (7 p.m. start) which rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to secure a 64-50 victory over Massena. Section 10 finished with a 4-2 advantage on the day where Malone, Potsdam and St. Regis Falls also scored wins.

OFA Coach Mark Henry looks for depth to be a key for Devils tonight just as it has been all season. “Our bench gave us a lift again tonight. Jack Manke played very well inside and Seth Pinkerton was very active offensively and defensively,” said Henry after the two sophomores led the play of the reserves.

Manke finished with five points and seven rebounds while Pinkerton delivered four rebounds, three assists and two steals to go along with two points. Breton LaRose continued his three-point marksmanship netting five threes in a 21-point, six-rebound, four-assist performance and Pat Cosmo delivered 17 points. Colin Ross tallied eight points, Kinnon LaRose tallied six points on two threes, Matt Piercey passed out nine assists while scoring five points and Conor Hannan added five points. Ryan of Beeknantown led all scorewrs with 27 points.

In OFA JV action, the Blue Devils took a 27-10 lead over Beekmantown and rolled to a 45-25 win.Al Fisher scored 12 points while Nick Sweeney added 10 and Tristan Moore added eight. Jon Rogers chipped in five while Peyton Lalone added four.


Potsdam 49, Saranac Central 24:The Sandstoners allowed just eight second half points. Shawn Clark tallied 15 points and Konnor Bigwarfe netted 14.

AuSable Valley 64, Massena 50: Tyler Haas led Massena with 12 points. The trio of Goodnough (19 points), Cosgrove (18) and Douglas (12) anchored the winning offense.

SRF 63, Seton 45: Brandon Votra tossed through 24 points and Caleb Green netted another 21 to lead the Saints (8-0).

Malone 58, Peru 56: Jon Dunlavey had 18 points and Mitch Gallagher struck for another 12 as the Huskies (9-0) built a 26-21 halftime lead and made it stand for the win.

Ticonderoga 48, Tupper Lake 40: Mitch Keniston and Anson Gagnier scored 14 points apiece in the losing cause.
