CROGHAN Loren Lowell Virkler, 56, of Kirschnerville Road, died Friday afternoon, December 28, 2012.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, with Ministers of the Church, officiating. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Calling hours are from 1 - 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
He is survived by his companion, Carol Anson; three sons, Bradley Joseph Virkler of Penfield, NY; Daniel Sydney Virkler of Croghan; Jay Walter Virkler of Croghan; his parents, Lowell and Celia Virkler of Croghan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda M. and Floyd Graves Jr. of Croghan; Linette J. and Joseph P. Bush of Lowville; two grandsons, Derek and Jason Virkler; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loren was born on December 17, 1956 in Watertown, New York, a son of Lowell Richard and Celia Ruth Beck Virkler. He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1975. Loren worked on and took over the family farms operation. He was a life-long farmer and maple producer. He hauled spruce pulp for many years.
Mr. Virkler attended Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan. He was a member of the New York State Maple Producers Association. Loren was a supporter of the organ donor program.
Loren enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He loved his family. His boys and grandsons were his pride and joy. Loren was always cheerful. He loved people young and old, and enjoyed helping others, lending a helping hand when needed.
