CORINTH Bruce G. Sears, 71, of Corinth, New York and Brandon, Florida passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Brandon Regional Hospital.
Bruce was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Ogdensburg, New York, the son of the late Charles P. and Florence A. (Fawcett) Sears.
Bruce graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1959. He also served in the US Army Reserves for 14 years.
During his marriage to Carole Layng, which ended in the 1980s, they had 3 children. He was employed at Jamesway Retail Store as a store manager until the mid-1970s. He later went on to work for the Town of Oswegatchie Highway Department and his most recent employment had been as a New York State Department of Corrections Officer where he worked for 23 years, retiring in 2003.
He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry projects for his children and grandchildren, and the daily crossword puzzle. He also enjoyed boating and fishing. But one of his greatest loves was his many cats he had over the years.
Bruce was predeceased by his brothers Bernard and Charles Sears.
Survivors include his daughters: Julie A. (Thomas) Patnode of Heuvelton, New York and their children Holli (Matt), PJ (Brandi), Logan, Mackenzie and his four great-grandchildren; Susan A. (Richard) Peacock of Hannawa Falls, New York and their children Julianne, Scott, Jaime and Justin; and his son Bruce Paul (Tara) Sears of North Creek, New York and their children Ryan, Christopher, Jonathan and Cole. He is also survived by two brothers: Joseph (Marjorie) Sears, Ogdensburg, New York and Gary (Janet) Sears, Plant City, Florida; his sister-in-law Charlotte Sears of Ogdensburg, New York, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
