Accident probe in Watertown brings two arrests

An investigation into a property damage hit-and-run accident Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a man who allegedly was violating a court order.

Keith T. Booker, 41, of 1204 Superior St., Apt. H9, was arrested at 471 Portage St. shortly after 9 p.m. on a charge of second-degree criminal contempt. He also was served with a town of Watertown Court bench warrant for alleged failure to pay $240 in court fees assessed in July for his convictions for third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Town of Watertown Justice Andrew N. Capone set bail at the $240 due the court, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

The house resident, Jerrell J. Davis, 49, was cited with leaving the scene of an accident and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Police were notified of an accident that occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Portage Street. Two vehicles were parked across from each other on the roadway and as Mr. Davis drove between them, his car clipped the side-view mirror on a pickup owned by Michael A. Miller, Dexter. Mr. Davis parked, went into his home, and did nothing about the accident. When an officer went to the Davis home, Mr. Davis admitted his role in the accident, police said.

Mr. Booker was in the home with Torilynn M. McAuley, 32, Watertown. The officer learned about the bench warrant, then determined that a protection order issued in town of Watertown Court requires that Mr. Booker stay away from Ms. McAuley.
