LOWVILLE — A Croghan man rang in the new year with charges of cocaine and marijuana possession.

Village police charged Michael V. Purpura, 27, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday off Shady Avenue.

He is to answer the charges in Village Court.
