Sandy Creeks Matt Ennist, who helped the Comets capture their first Section 3 Class D football title this past season, has been named to the Class D all-state first team offense as chosen by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound sophomore offensive lineman earned a first-team berth after a stellar season on both sides of the ball.
Sandy Creek teammates Jake Benedict, a junior linebacker, and senior defensive lineman Mason McNitt, were honorable mention picks in Class D.
In Class C, three General Brown players earned all-state honors. Senior defensive lineman Corey Gaffney is on second team defense, senior offensive lineman Jordan Scofield made the third-team offense, and senior defensive back Richard Lagano is on the third-team defense.
Also making the third team offense is Immaculate Heart Central junior wide receiver Nick Koelmel.
Lowville junior defensive back Kyle Malik is an honorable mention selection in Class C.
Saranac Lake senior quarterback Matt Phelan and teammate Kevin Morgan, a senior receiver, took first-team Class C honors after leading the Red Storm to the state semifinals.
