A Watertown woman was jailed briefly early Thursday after she was found driving drunk with her 16-month-old daughter in the vehicle, according to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department.
Tiffany R. Girard, 23, of 431B Jewell Drive, was arrested by deputies at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday on Route 11 in the town of Pamelia on a felony charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, combined with drugs. She also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, making an improper signal, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
Brownville Town Justice Richard M. Parker sent her to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, setting bail at $1,500, but bail was posted for her release two hours later.
Miss Girard had no breath test reading, leading the sheriffs department to allege drug involvement. She told a deputy she had taken Suboxone for treatment for the use of heroin, according to the sheriffs office.
Miss Girard also faced a child endangerment charge in January 2011 when she was accused of shoplifting while accompanied by a 15-year-old. The charge was merged with a petit larceny charge, to which she pleaded guilty in City Court. She was given a conditional discharge.
