Ruiz’s 10 kills, 9 aces guide Watertown volleyball

Nemesis Ruiz totaled nine aces and 10 kills as the Watertown volleyball team prevailed, 3-0, over Indian River in a nonleague match on Thursday.

Olivia Heiler contributed five aces and six assists for Watertown (5-3), which won, 25-10, 25-11, 25-15.

Jenna Hibbard chipped in with four kills and 10 assists for the Cyclones.

Kaliya Ramsvig contributed three aces and four kills for the Warriors (1-7), and Asia Bliss chipped in with two aces and four kills.

BEAVER RIVER 3, THOUSAND ISLANDS 0

Melissa Hunt totaled 17 service points, including eight aces, eight kills and nine digs to pace the Beavers to a “C/D” Division victory.

Brittany Widrick contributed 15 service points and four kills, and Gen Fidler chipped in with 10 kills for Beaver River (6-2), which won 25-10, 25-11, 25-10.

Keegan Bowman recorded 13 assists for the Beavers.

SOUTH LEWIS 3, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0

Carson Chruscicki totaled 12 service points, including three aces, along with nine assists as the Falcons swept their way to a “C/D” Division triumph.

Tasha Ortlieb contributed 18 service points, including six aces, and three digs and three kills for South Lewis (5-4), which prevailed, 25-9, 25-8, 25-11.

Liz Egnew totaled 12 kills for the Falcons.

Jordan Fitzgerald registered five service points, including four aces, along with seven digs and two kills for the Panthers (0-8), and Whitney Maitland totaled five assists and five digs.

CARTHAGE 3, CAMDEN 0

Cassie Birth and Courtney Cunningham each recorded nine kills to lead the Comets to a nonleague victory at Camden by scores of 25-8, 25-17, 26-24.

Birth and Cunningham added three and two aces, respectively, for Carthage (6-2).

Carly Sullivan and Claire Sauter provided 14 and eight assists, respectively.

WRESTLING

GENERAL BROWN 48, INDIAN RIVER 28

The Lions secured four pinfall victories to beat the Warriors in a Frontier League interdivision matchup of league unbeaten teams.

Ryan Snow (126 pounds), Jordan Schofield (285), Peter Will (152) and Zech Pitre (195) each won by pin for General Brown (13-1, 5-0).

Nick Toutant of Indian River (11-3, 4-1) won the 132-pound match with a pinfall in just 20 seconds.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 75, IHC 6

The Spartans won seven matches by forfeit in picking up an interdivision win against the Cavaliers.

Kyle Snyder (113), Cody Jones (126), Holden Pelton (138) and Griffin Charlebois (152) all earned pins for South Jefferson (3-0).

Nick Koelmel won at 145 to provide the only points for Immaculate Heart (3-7, 3-5).

CARTHAGE 51, BEAVER RIVER 30

Kade Andrews’ pin at 220 highlighted the Comets interdivision win over the Beavers in Carthage.

Shane Eisenhauer (120) and Anthony Cortez (126) earned wins via fall for Carthage (4-0).

Zach Proulx (132), Cody Simmons (138) and Lane Zehr (145) won by fall for Beaver River (2-11, 0-5).

GOUVERNEUR 45, MASSENA 33

The undefeated Wildcats (4-0) scored wins in three of the last four weight classes to record an NAC victory over the Red Raiders (2-2).

BOYS SWIMMING

WATERTOWN 110, SOUTH LEWIS 45

Michael Netto and Joey Ongkingco each won three races as the Cyclones downed the Falcons on a crossover meet in Watertown.

Netto and Ongkingco paired up in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays for Watertown (6-0). Netto also won in the 100 butterfly, while Ongkingco won in the 100 freestyle.

Pat Pominville placed second in the diving competition for South Lewis (2-4).

LOWVILLE 94, INDIAN RIVER 86

Stephen Larche won three races to help the Red Raiders cap a comeback win over the Warriors in an interdivision meet at Philadelphia.

Larche won the 200 and 500 freestyle and swam a strong first leg in the winning 400 medley relay team for Lowville (5-1).

Josh LaClair of Indian River (3-3) earned first in diving, the 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly and the 200 medley relay.
