MALONE - A Malone couple was jailed Thursday evening on multiple charges following a domestic dispute that occurred the same night.
Clayton R. Tucker, 36, is facing charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony and misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and driving while intoxicated. He is also facing two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
His girlfriend Maria L. White, 20, of Malone is facing a single count of endangering the welfare of a child.
State police said they responded to a domestic incident where the pair had been fighting at their shared Upper Flat Rock Road, Westville home and Tucker allegedly placed their 2-month-old child in a vehicle and drove off while having a blood alcohol level above 0.18 percent.
Both were arraigned in Bangor Town Court. Tucker was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond and White was jailed in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond. Each is to reappear at 7 p.m. Tueday in Westville Town Court.
Tucker, if convicted, could face mandatory state prison time as a repeat felony offender. According to state prison records, he has served two previous sentences for attempted second-degree assault and second-degree abortion convictions.
The abortion conviction stemmed from an incident on July 8, 2001 when Tucker reportedly punched and kicked his then-pregnant girlfriend in the abdomen. She was seven weeks pregnant at the time of the attack and suffered a miscarriage, officials said at the time of his arrest following that incident.
