CANTON — For the second straight year, enrollment in SUNY Canton’s Winterterm online sessions has reached about 1,300 students.

The college began offering a fully online winter session in 2005 with only 18 classes and 160 enrollments. Since then, the school has watched enrollment grow by 10 to 40 percent annually until leveling off this year.

More than 100 winter courses are offered, both online and in the classroom. Typically, the majority of Winterterm students come from schools outside SUNY Canton. The relatively inexpensive price of $232 per credit hour and diverse online course offerings attract students navigating the busy holiday work and family schedule and enable them to avoid a snowy commute to their classes.
