A man accused of going into an old vacant house near his residence at Northland Estates in the town of Watertown to steal brass was being held on $20,000 bail Tuesday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

Robert M. Reczko, 24, of 17481 Route 11, Lot 42, was arrested by state police Monday afternoon on a charge of third-degree burglary. He was arraigned before town of Watertown Justice David A. Renzi.

According to documents filed with the court, Mr. Reczko on Oct. 19 entered a former dwelling used for storage at 17482 Route 11, and stole three five-gallon containers filled with brass casings. He subsequently sold the items for about $300 to a recycler, the documents indicate.

The house is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Michael E. Gogoe, Dexter.

The intrusion occurred four days after Mr. Reczko and a woman were arrested on a grand larceny charge in connection with the theft of an all-terrain vehicle, gas range and refrigerator from property in the town of Lorraine. Prosecution is still pending on that charge, according to the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.
