FOWLER Ronald F. Baker, 45, and his mother, Louise J. Baker, 70, both of 1442 County Route 24, face weapons charges after a disturbance at their house Saturday involving paramedics, state police said.
Police said Gouverneur Rescue Squad personnel responded to a call to help a member of the family who was having a seizure. Ronald Baker became combative and tried to keep rescue workers from entering the house, police said. Troopers responded, entered the house and discovered several guns, which Mr. Fowler, as a convicted felon, is not permitted to own, police said. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
He was convicted of threatening three people with knives in 1986, and of illegal possession of a shotgun in 2000.
He was arraigned in Fowler Town Court and held without bail in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton.
His mother faces a single charge of criminal possession of a weapon because she owns the house. She was arraigned and sent to jail with bail set at $2,000 cash.
