BINGHAMTON Freshman guard Jasmine Canady scored 27 points to lead the Jefferson Community College womens basketball team to a 68-61 win over host Broome CC in a Mid-State Athletic Conference game on Tuesday night.
Copenhagens Morgan Kiernan added 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Cannoneers (5-7 overall, 1-0 conference). Tapulei Vaveao also scored 17 points for JCC.
Kelcie Marshall and Megan Mullins scored 13 points each for the Hornets (1-11, 0-1).
ST. LAWRENCE 67, SKIDMORE 52
Kara McDuffee scored 19 points to lead the Saints over Skidmore in a Liberty League game in Canton.
Kelly Legg added 16 points for St. Lawrence (7-3, 1-0).
Molly McLaughlin led Skidmore (4-8, 2-1) with nine points.
MENS BASKETBALL
ST. LAWRENCE 76, SKIDMORE 64
Kyle Miller scored 18 points and Massenas Brady Condlin added 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Saints (3-7, 1-0) defeated Skidmore in a Liberty League game in Canton.
Janpeter Brase scored 10 points for SLU and Payton Stahler snagged 10 rebounds.
Connor Merrill led Skidmore (7-5, 1-2) with 17 points.
BROOME CC 59, JEFFERSON CC 54
Lloyd Saunders scored 18 points as the Hornets (4-10, 1-0) spoiled the Cannoneers Mid-State Athletic Conference opener in Binghamton.
Derrick Williams scored a team-high 19 points for Jefferson Community College (5-9, 0-1).
Andrew McNitt provided 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks and Justin Sullivan pulled down 12 rebounds for JCC, which will play its first conference home game against Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Thursday.
WOMENS HOCKEY
SUNY POTSDAM 4, CASTLETON 1
Brittany Lucky scored twice as the Bears (6-8-1) came back from an early one-goal deficit to defeat Castleton State in a nonconference game at Cheel Arena.
Saran Nelson and Izzy Fayerman also scored for SUNY Potsdam.
Anna Daniels scored for Castleton (6-4-1).
