DEER RIVER — Two Fort Drum men previously jailed on burglary charges in Jefferson County also are facing charges in Lewis County.

State police on Wednesday charged Richard E. Reinhardt II, 22, with three counts of third-degree burglary, and Dominic M. Walters, 22, with six counts of third-degree burglary. They were arraigned in Denmark Town Court and returned to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, where they have been held since late November.

The two were accused of breaking into three units Oct. 30 at Care Free Storage, Deer River, while police allege that Mr. Walters broke into three others Nov. 12. Various weapons, electronics, tools and other items were stolen, police said.

Police also divulged that an alleged accomplice of Mr. Walters in the alleged Nov. 12 break-ins, Chase T. Pounders, 19, Fort Drum, was charged in mid-December with three counts of third-degree burglary.

Mr. Reinhardt on Wednesday additionally was charged by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, operating an ATV without a helmet and driving an unregistered ATV.

Deputies said they stopped Mr. Reinhardt on Oct. 26 on Maiden Lane after observing him driving an ATV without a helmet.

He was unable to provide documentation for the machine, and it was learned that it had been stolen earlier that month from U Lock It Storage, 26842 Holbrook Road, Evans Mills, deputies said.

Mr. Reinhardt and Mr. Walters were arrested by state police in late November on charges of third-degree burglary in connection with the alleged rental locker unit break-in in October.

Police allege that they cut locks to enter a storage unit at the town of LeRay business and stole a bolt-action rifle, a scoped semiautomatic rifle, a shotgun, a 2009 all-terrain vehicle, an ATV helmet and a socket set.
