A fast start by Massena made quick work of OFAs hopes to extend its undefeated start in Northern Conference Wrestling action.
The Raiders (3-2), who issued a solid challenge to Gouverneur last week, recorded pins in the first six bouts of the night and handed OFA (4-1) its first loss of the year in a 56-27 decision.
We knew we had to win two weight classes between 113 and 145 but we just couldnt do it. Massena has put together a very good team and they registered an impressive win, said OFA Coach Bill Mitchell after the Raiders reversed an early season loss.
They had some people out the first time they wrestled us and with the guys the they got back they created some very tough matchups for us.
The Raiders built a 30-0 lead as Skyler Cameron (113) felled Hayden LaRock at 1:13, Konnor Germany stopped Austin Lalonde at 1:20, Jessie Patraw (126) secured a second period fall over Josh Wangler, Landon Laughlin (145) pinned Glynn Breen at 0:45, Quinton Colter (138) pinned Tyler Eaton at :44 and Isaiah Perry (145) dispatched Bailey Phelps in 3:56.
OFAs Nate Murdock (152) broke the run erasing a 5-2 deficit in the third period with a pin over Dan Elman and the Raiders countered with Hunter Perrine (160) recording a 16-2 major decision over Cody David.
Alex and Andrew Cole registered back-to-back falls for the Devils at 170 and 182 pounds. Alex Cole stopped Ethan Marcello in 21 seconds and Andrew Cole methodically gained a fall over Dakota Bernard with 18 seconds remaining in the third period.
Joseph Ferrera pinned Justin Pratt at 195, Cameron Tarbell received a forfeit at 220 and Nolan Terrance pinned Nate Sarkin at 285 to round out the Massena scoring.
Devil lightweights Brody Sheppard (99) and Tanner LaPiene (106) won the concluding bouts of the night. Sheppard pinned Brian Plourde at 1:22 and LaPiene crafted a well-earned 4-0 win over Michael Brown.
Allen Smithers of OFA won the only junior varsity match of the night and Chris Cole, Cordell David, Danny Yette and Gurjot Grewal posted victories in modified action.
Gouverneur knocked off Malone 63-16 while Canton topped Clifton-Fine 47-15 in the other matches of the evening.
Gouverneur 63, Malone 16: Dillon Stowell (113), Zach Ayen (138) and Joey Bush (106) won by pin for the Wildcats (5-0), who also had six forfeit victories. Cody Smith (170) won by pin for the Huskies (1-5).
Canton 47, Clifton-Fine 15: No details were available.
