Grant fashions four goals in Potsdam win over SLC

BRASHER FALLS - Freshman Kalie Grant generated the first four goals in helping to boost the Potsdam Central girls hockey team to a 5-0 decision over Section 10 rival St. Lawrence Central at the Tri-Town Arena on Thursday.

Grant scored the only goal the Lady Sandstoners would need whe she converted on a centering pass into the slot from Kady Hart for a power play goal with 3:22 left in the first period.

Grant finished off the rebound of her own shot after taking a pass from Meg Stevenson just 11 seconds into the second period before completing her natural hattrick at the 2:41 mark of the middle frame again assisted by Stevenson. The final goal of Grant’s personal surge came with 5:55 left in the second period assisted by Sierra Gagnon and Stevenson. Emily LaRoe closed out the scoring at the 13:00 mark assisted by Kelsey Green.

Sidney Molnar worked the Potsdam crease for three saves over the first two periods before giving way to Kelsie Rathbun, who handled the three shots she faced in the third to preserve the shutout. Steph Peets kept the Lady Larries in range with a 49-save performance.

The Lady Sandstoners (11-2, 7-0) are slated to host Lake Placid next Wednesday at 7 p.m. while SLC (0-10-1) takes on Canton at the Tri-Town Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
