FL basketball roundup: WHS edges IHC in girls play

Morgan Cadwell scored her only two points of the game by hitting a pair of foul shots with 10 seconds left to give the Watertown girls basketball team a 28-26 Frontier League “A” Division win over Immaculate Heart Central at Case Middle School on Thursday night.

Katie Aldrich led the Cyclones (3-6, 2-5) with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Hannah Levine added seven points.

Brittany Dunnigan paced the Cavaliers (2-10, 1-7) with nine points.

COPENHAGEN 54, LAFARGEVILLE 21

Logan Wheeler finished with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals as the host Golden Knights picked up a “D” Division triumph over the Red Knights.

The victory enabled the Golden Knights to move into a tie with Sackets Harbor for the division lead.

Rachel Muncy provided eight points and 10 rebounds for Copenhagen (8-3, 7-2).

Krysti Brow led LaFargeville (2-9, 1-8) with nine points.

ALEXANDRIA 60, LYME 44

Lorraine Beard generated 24 points as the Purple Ghosts downed the Indians in a “D” Division game at Alexandria Bay.

Rachael Calhoun contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds for Alexandria (7-4, 6-3).

Yanna Ososkalo scored 18 points for Lyme (1-8).

BOYS BASKETBALL

INDIAN RIVER 59, A-P-W 40

Shelton Williams scored 15 points as the Warriors outscored the Rebels 21-2 in the fourth quarter to earn the crossover triumph at Parish.

The Warriors’ Justin Mattingly drained four 3-point field goals, finishing with 12 points.

Marcus Keys added 11 points for Indian River (6-3).

Aaron Marshall led Altamr-Parish-Williamstown (5-6) with a game-high 19 points.

CARTHAGE 62, MASSENA 50

The Comets hit a school-record 15 3-pointers as they beat the Red Raiders in a nonleague game at Carthage.

Sophomore Peyton McLaurin led the way with 25 points, including five threes, for Carthage (10-1).

Andrew Smith added 15 points on five 3-pointers, Keyan Pinnock had 12 points and Walter Jeter 10.

Zack Rusaw paced Massena (6-5) with 20 points.
