SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Adam Place scored with 31 seconds left in overtime to help the SUNY Potsdam mens hockey team withstand a Western New England rally for a 4-3 nonconference victory on Friday night.
Place took a pass from Matt Viola and put the puck in the top part of the net over Golden Bears goalie Tim Carr.
Potsdam (6-8-1) scored the first three goals in the first period before Chris Connors scored a pair of goals in the second period to force overtime for WNE (6-7-0).
Viola and Erick Ware each provided two assists.
CLARKSON 2, BROWN 1
Brittany Styner scored her second of two goals with just under 2 1/2 minutes left in regulation as the Golden Knights scratched out an ECAC Hockey victory in Providence, R.I.
Erica Howe made 21 saves for Clarkson (16-5-0, 8-1-0).
Jessica Hoyle scored for Brown (3-10-1, 2-7-0).
ST. LAWRENCE 5, YALE 1
Five different Saints provided goals as they won an ECAC Hockey game in New Haven, Conn.
Rylee Smith dished out a pair of assists for SLU (12-8-1, 7-2).
Janelle Ferrara scored a power-play goal for Yale (2-13-1, 1-7-1).
SUNY CANTON 65, VERMONT TC 59
Scott Bartenstein registered 13 points and Khalid Vaughn added 12 as SUNY Canton defeated Vermont Technical College at Randolph Center, Vt.
Ryan Lamica provided eight points, seven rebounds and five assists while playing all 40 minutes for SUNY Canton (4-9).
VASSAR 48, ST. LAWRENCE 47
Andrew Adkins hit a jumper with 1.7 seconds left to give the Brewers a Liberty League victory over the Saints in Canton.
Vassar (5-6, 1-1) trailed the entire game until Adkinss game-winning shot, which capped a 6-0 run in the final three minutes.
Janpeter Brase scored 14 points to lead SLU (3-8, 1-1).
CLARKSON 75, BARD 45
The Golden Knights made 19 of 25 shots in the first half en route to a Liberty League rout of Bard College (4-7, 1-3) in Potsdam.
Charles McAllister scored a game-high 12 points for Clarkson (9-3, 1-2).
SUNY BROCKPORT 83, SUNY POTSDAM 71
Curtis Pierce earned his first double-double of the season but it wasnt enough for the Bears, who dropped a SUNYAC game to the Golden Eagles (8-4, 3-2) in Brockport.
Pierce finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds for SUNY Potsdam (4-7, 1-4).
ST. LAWRENCE 81, VASSAR 60
Kelly Legg posted a game-high 22 points as the Saints downed the Brewers in Liberty League play at Canton.
Allison Cady scored 14 points for SLU (8-3, 2-0).
Cydni Matsuoka led Vassar (8-2, 1-1) with 20 points.
BARD 52, CLARKSON 46
Tytravia Riley registered 21 points and 15 rebounds as the Raptors beat the Golden Knights in a Liberty League matchup in Potsdam.
Bianka Bell added 10 points for Bard (7-6, 1-3). Colleen Daley and Ashley Loggins both scored 12 points for Clarkson (2-9, 0-3).
SUNY BROCKPORT 68, SUNY POTSDAM 59
Alexandra Marshalls 21 points lifted the Golden Eagles to a SUNYAC conference win over the Bears in Brockport.
Cecilia Sigrist contributed 12 points for SUNY Brockport (5-7, 2-3).
Katy Briedis generated 21 points for SUNY Potsdam (1-10, 0-5).
SUNY CANTON 58, VERMONT TC 49
Joelle Percy scored 18 points and Karyss Terrance finished with a double-double as the Roos won in Randolph Center, Vt.
Terrance tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds for SUNY Canton (7-6).
SLUS VISCONTI TAKES THIRD
St. Lawrence University sophomore Allison Visconti registered her first career podium finish, placing third in the giant slalom at the season-opening University of Vermont Carnival at Mount Mansfield in Vermont.
Visconti, whose previous career best was 14th, finished in a combined time of 2 minutes, 8.52 seconds.
For the men, Dustin Martin placed ninth for the Saints in the giant slalom. Graham Scott was 16th.
The alpine portion of the carnival is today.
