DANBURY, Conn. — Philip Aucoin made his season debut and notched a hat trick as the Danbury Whalers defeated the Thousand Islands Privateers, 6-3, in a Federal Hockey League game Friday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.

Aucoin also added a pair of assists for Danbury (15-14), which has opened up a two-point edge for third place in the FHL. Richard Vanderhoek contributed with a goal and an assist.

Taylor Larsen netted a pair of goals for Thousand Islands (15-17). Matt Anthony made 35 saves.

The loss is the sixth in the last seven for the Privateers.

Thousand Islands is next in action Thursday at Williamsport.
