Clarkson Video Report: Jan. 16

Clarkson (4-12-5 overall, 3-5-1 ECAC Hockey) has just one game this weekend, the final matchup of the regular season with rival St. Lawrence University (9-10-2, 2-5-2).
The teams met twice in four days in December, with Clarkson winning 4-1 at Appleton Arena on Dec. 5, then winning 3-1 in Lake Placid in a nonconference game on Dec. 8.
That was Clarkson's last win of the season. The Golden Knights enter Saturday's game with five straight losses and are just 1-8-1 at home.
SLU has gone 2-3 since the pair of games in December.
But the Clarkson/SLU series has been one-sided over the past three seasons.
Since the 2010-11 season, Clarkson has gone 7-1 against the Saints and has five straight wins over SLU in ECAC Hockey games. SLU has been held to one goal in five of the seven losses to the Golden Knights.

Clarkson's best player against the Saints over the last three years has been junior forward Will Frederick, who scored two goals in the win in Appleton Arena earlier this season. In seven career games against the Saints Frederick has four goals and three assists.

In the past two seasons SLU was frustrated by former Clarkson goalie Paul Karpowich. Freshman Greg Lewis, who wears the same number as Karpowich, has started off well against the Saints with a .967 save percentage in two games.

Clarkson's run over the past three years was partly motivated by an experience the current senior class suffered as freshmen. In the 2009-10 season the Golden Knights played SLU six times, including a three-game ECAC Hockey first-round series that the Saints won late in game three. Clarkson went 2-3-1 that season against SLU.
