An Ogdensburg man was sentenced Tuesday a year in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, for second-degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.

In city court, Audie T. Middlemiss, 51, of 819 New York Ave., was also told to comply with a three-year, no-contact order of protection, fined and surcharged a total of $200 and told pay a $50 DNA fee.

Court records stated that Mr. Middlemiss in September violated a court order of protection for Maxine M. Jerome, 22, same address.

He was accused of striking her in the presence of her 7-year-old son.

Mr. Middlemiss was represented by attorney Krista A. Freego, Canton.

In other cases before Judge William R. Small:

Jeffrey C. LaValley, 25, of Chase Mills, was given a one-year conditional discharge, fined $500, surcharged $395, had his driver’s license revoked for six months and was told to install an Interlock alcohol detection device in his vehicle. He pleaded guilty in September to driving while intoxicated. He had a blood alcohol level of .15 percent when arrested.

Mr. LaValley was represented by the St. Lawrence County Public Defender’s Office.

Derrick L. German, 41, of 816 Congress St., Ogdensburg, was sentenced to nine months in county jail for second-degree criminal contempt.

He was also surcharged $200, told to pay a $50 DNA fee and to comply with a no-contact order of protection for Dorothy M. Marino, 39, same address.

He was accused of violating a court order of protection for her.

Mr. German was represented by the Public Defender’s Office.
