Chateaugay girls turn back Heuvelton


chateuagay - Chateaugay won the meeting of the Bulldogs while Harrisville scored a tight NAC West Division win over Lisbon Girls Basketball action on Friday.

Chateaugay went 11-13 from the foulline in the fourth quarter sparking a 56-46 win over Heuvelton in interdivisional action at SUNY Potsdam. The Lady Pirates downed Lisbon 46-43 keyed by 14-9 first quarter.

In other action, St. Regis Falls earned their first win of the season besting Parishville-Hopkinton while Malone rolled past Brushton-Moira.

Chateaugay 56, Heuvelton 46: The Franklin County Bulldogs steadily pulled away from a 8-6 first quarter advantage improving to 13-2. Courtney Boyea generated 25 points including 11 from the foulline pacing the Bulldogs. Hannah Cook posted 14 while Makayla Fleury added eight.

Maddie St. Pierre posted 18 points, six boards, four assists and three steals for Heuvelton (11-4) while Olivia St. Pierre added 15 points, 10 boards, four steals and two assists. Alexis Weidner chipped in eight boards, three steals, two blocks and six points.

“Courtney really had a great game for them and Chateaugay really used their quickness. They got to a lot of loose balls,” said HCS coach Rob Powers.

Harrisville 46, Lisbon 43: Kathleen Coloney scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Harrisville (8-7, 7-5). Chelsea Pierce added 12 points and 10 boards. Hannah Weaver chipped in six points while Georgi Baker and Janel Swanson logged five each.

Alex Amo delivered 20 points for Lisbon (6-9, 4-8 NAC West). Emily Dishaw added 10 while Jackie Sovie chipped in seven.

Malone 48, Brushton-Moira 21: The Huskies (10-5) topped the Panthers (5-9) pulling away in the fourth quarter with a 17-1 run. Janel Heden tallied nine points for Malone and Ariel Gary tallied eight for B-M.

St. Regis Falls 45, P-H 34: The Saints rode a 13-2 start for their first win as Susice scored 14 for St. Regis Falls (1-11, 1-9 NAC East). Jenna Converse scored seven for P-H.
