Glen Park man admits stealing car and other items

A Glen Park man pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson County Court to charges that he stole another man’s car and items from his grandmother in separate incidents.

Jeremy M. Miller, 22, whose last known address was on White Road, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny. Sentencing was set for April 5.

He was accused of stealing a 2004 Saturn Ion from Paul Cedar, also of White Road, on Sept. 14. State police said at the time that he slammed the vehicle into a barn at county routes 75 and 76 in the town of Ellisburg and then fled the accident scene.

He also was accused in a grand jury indictment handed up in July of stealing more than $1,000 worth of property from his grandmother, Nancy P. Goodwin, between May 1 and July 31, 2011, in Watertown. City police said at the time that four gold bracelets, two iPhones and an air bed were stolen in that incident.

In other court activity, Antwan D. Gathers, 28, whose last known address was 43372 Route 37, Apt. B, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance. He admitted that he tried to possess cocaine with the intent to sell the drug Aug. 16 in Watertown.

Police said at the time that he had the drug in his vehicle when it was halted in the 200 block of Mill Street for allegedly failing to signal a turn. Sentencing in the matter was set for April 6.
