WARMEST WISHES – Marcia Curran celebrates her birthday today. What a lovely woman with such a kind, caring heart. It is truly amazing to watch Marcia address the needs and requests of each customer who walks into Seasons. She is so helpful and knows exactly what would make a good gift for each one.
My warmest wishes and heartfelt thanks are sent to Marcia today as she celebrates. I cannot call her to have a gift basket sent nor can I ask her to gift wrap the perfect gift I have just found in Seasons. I will stop at Seasons on Wednesday and hopefully Marcia will be behind the counter with her warm smile and friendly hello so each one stopping by can wish her a very Happy Birthday.
CIRCLE THE DATE – In past columns I have shared the dedication and devotion of an extraordinary young woman, Tiffany Wood. Tiffany works diligently to raise awareness of heart disease and has held two walks in Massena to raise needed funding for the American Heart Association.
After participating for three years with the American Heart Association, she organized her own team in 2008, titled WR-Squared.
Tiffany has explained that her team was originally established in the honor of my maternal grandfather, William L. Sheets; my maternal uncle, Ronald L. Sheets; and my father, Richard A. Wood.
Each of those individuals was affected by heart disease between the ages of 50 and 54.
Her real passion and dedicated work with heart disease was inspired by the amazing story of her grandfather William L. Sheets, who after 25 years of battling heart disease, passed away on Feb. 9, 2011.
This Saturday on that very special anniversary Tiffany, Sarah Ruby and Stephanie Houle will sponsor a Zumba Event to raise funding for the WR-Squareds Capital Region Heart Walk Team for the American Heart Association.
This Zumba Event will be held at the Fabulously Fit Studio at 92 Main St. on Feb. 9. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with two hours of Zumba with Stephanie Houle beginning at 11 a.m. Registration is $15 with $10 of that amount going to the WR-Squared Teams Heart Walk for the American Heart Association.
Everyone is invited to attend – to participate in the Zumba Event or to encourage and support those participating. You may also just stop by and make a donation to the American Heart Association.
I visited with Tiffany about this marvelous event on this very special day. I explained I can barely walk for half an hour on the stationary treadmill in our home, there is no way I would attempt two hours of Zumba. Tiffany was so kind telling me I could come and encourage others. And when I stop by, I will make a donation to this cause that touches us all.
My heartfelt thanks to Tiffany for her love for her grandfather and for her dedication to help with awareness for heart disease and in funding needed research as well.
Please circle Feb/ 9 at 10 a.m. and stop at Fabulously Fit to support Tiffany and her teams endeavor this week. I know it will be a wonderful tribute to a dear man, William L. Sheets, and to each one touched by heart disease.
HAPPY SUNDAY – On a recent Sunday as we were leaving Nanas after coffee, I noticed a hand scripted phrase on a sign board nearby. The sign read Happy Sunday! I smiled – I loved that greeting. We wish someone a Happy New Year or Happy Thanksgiving even telling friends we wish them a Happy Birthday, but how many times do we wish someone a Happy Sunday! or any day of the week?
Try it this week – as you meet a friend on the street or in a local store, wish them a Happy Wednesday! Hopefully the reaction will be the same as mine – a smile returned in joy for the wish of a very good day – a Happy Day!
