FORT DRUM — The post confirmed the identity of a soldier who was found dead Tuesday morning.

Pfc. Michael A. Gorman, of the 710 Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, was found in his barracks room on post.

According to the post, the 20-year-old, from Brookline, Mass., joined the Army in July 2011 and arrived on post in December 2011.

His awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

His death is under investigation by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command. The release from the post said that there was no indication of foul play, but that it had not been completely ruled out as the investigation continues.
