CARTHAGE Cassie Birth generated eight aces and six kills as the fourth-seeded Carthage volleyball team beat No. 5 New Hartford, 25-21, 18-25, 25-14, 25-18 in a Section 3 Class A quarterfinal on Thursday at Carthage High School.
Courtney Cunningham supplied 10 kills for the Comets (14-4), who will face top-seeded East Syracuse-Minoa in the semifinals at a time and date to be determined. Carly Sullivan added 17 assists for Carthage.
Samantha Holbert paced the Spartans (9-5) with nine digs, seven kills and six aces. Mackenzie Holbert had 21 assists and 19 digs.
SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, JORDAN-ELBRIDGE 0
Hannah Mullin powered the third-seeded Spartans to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of the No. 6 Eagles with 11 digs, six kills and five assists in a Section 3 Class B quarterfinal match at Adams.
Megan Hanson had 14 service points and nine digs for South Jefferson (14-3), which will face No. 2 Adirondack at a date and time yet to be determined. Jackie Decker added 12 assists and four aces.
Olivia Simmons tallied 13 assists for Jordan-Elbridge (10-8), while Kali Kimak had 10 kills.

Tasha Ortlieb had 19 service points and six aces as the fourth-seeded Falcons advanced with a 25-11, 25-8, 25-20 sweep of the No. 5 Blue Devils in Class C-1 quarterfinal at Turin.
Chloe Stinebrickner chipped in with 22 assists and seven service points for South Lewis (15-5), which faces top-seeded Tully at time and date yet to determined. Heather Bates had 12 service points, four aces and four kills.
Taylor Hitchcock collected nine assists for Pulaski (11-5).
