■ CANTON — The Canton Fire Department is asking residents to clear snow from hydrants to let volunteers have a faster response to fires.

■ The North Country Chili Cook-off on Feb. 2 raised $35,000 to transport veterans and their families to medical appointments. It was co-hosted by the Volunteer Transportation Center and the American Legion Auxiliary of Jefferson County.

■ PHILADELPHIA — The Indian River Central School District is down 11 students since the last Board of Education meeting, according to Assistant Superintendent Mary Anne Dobmeier. The enrollment as of Thursday is 4,264 students.
