How can New York state lawmakers justify passing the New York SAFE Act or the new gun law. Most lawmakers did not have the new law in hand for enough time to read and understand the complex law before they voted to pass said law.

I am not as upset with the new law as I am with the lawmakers who voted to pass said law. Gov. Andrew Cuomo bypassed the process that gives lawmakers time to debate and understand the new law. This process is in place to make sure that unwanted laws are not put into place.

The only way to change the way things get done in Albany is to vote out the elected officials who pass laws without due process.

If Gov. Cuomo is so concerned about saving lives that he wants the new illegal magazines sold outside of New York state (how about that), I would think that if he is truly concerned, he would promote an exchange program to take the new illegal magazines to a law enforcement agency and exchange for a legal magazine. Maybe give Remington Arms the contract to manufacture legal magazines.

I love New York.
