MALONE - Franklin County District Attorney Derek Champagne and Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Crawford have been appointed special prosecutors for a Clinton County case involving a state trooper charged with multiple counts of rape and assault.

Trevor Donah, 32, of Plattsburgh pleaded not guilty on Monday to a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of first-degree rape, one count of attempted first-degree rape, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of second-degree assault, three counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and two counts of third-degree assault. He is being held in the Clinton County Jail, Plattsburgh in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.

A news release from the Franklin County District Attorney’s office states that the charges involved three women identified as “Jane Doe #1,” “Jane Doe #2,” and “Jane Doe #3.” It adds that the charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between 2008 and 2012.

A news release from state police states that the alleged incidents occurred while Donah was off-duty.

He is scheduled to re-appear in Clinton County Court for a conference before Judge Kevin Ryan.

Mr. Champagne would not comment on the case beyond stating that his and Ms. Crawford’s appointments were due to a conflict with the Clinton County District Attorney’s office.

“The investigation is on-going,” Mr. Champagne said.
