OGDENSBURG - Ogdensburg police Wednesday arrested Chauncey J. Pray, 23, of 76 Demot St., Hammond, for third-degree felony robbery and third-degree misdemeanor
attempted assault in connection with a Feb. 4 late night robbery of a local taxi cab driver near the intersection of Knox and Clark streets.
Detective Daniel C. Mousaw said that the driver, employed by TNT Taxi of Ogdensburg, said that her fare, a white male, grabbed her while the cab was in motion and forced the cab into park.
The driver was able to free herself from the assailant, who was only able to remove a cellular telephone and the keys to the vehicle before she fled the scene on foot.
The driver managed to escape the taxi with the money bag from the nights fares.
Mr. Pray was in police custody last night pending arraignment in city court.
Mr. Mousaw said that no weapons were displayed or threatened in the robbery. No further arrests are expected.
