CANTON - Canton answered a fast Norwood-Norfolk start in pulling away to a 79-44 win in the first round of the Section 10 Class C Basketball Tournament on Wednesday.

The Flyers netted the first four points of the game but the Bears generated nine of the next 10 and never looked back.

“(Norwood-Norfolk) always plays hard and battles right to the end. We did some good things tonight but we still have things we need to work on to get ready for Tupper Lake,” said coach Bill Porter.

Bryant Wentworth led all scorers with 24 points for the Bears (7-12). Nick Archibald and junior Evan LaPoint both finished with 15 points followed by Eddie Bortnick with nine. For the Flyers (2-17), senior Cody Rust tossed through 15 points.
