CANTON - Laura Pierce won three individual events, setting a Section 10 record in the 1,500-meter run, as Cantons girls won the Section 10 team title at St. Lawrence Universitys Newell Fieldhouse on Friday.
Canton finished with 160 1/2 points and Malone was second with 94.
Pierce, who was named the Most Valuable Runner, won the 1,000 and 3,000 and her time of 4 minutes, 43.5 seconds in the 1,500 set a Section 10 record.
Cantons other individual winners were Emma Collins (55), Lindsay Proulx (55 hurdles) and Gemma DelRossi (600). The Golden Bears also won the 3,200 and 1,600 relays.
Beaver Rivers Skylar Pastor, a South Jefferson student, won the 300 and was named the Most Valuable Field Event Performer.
Other girls individual champions included Potsdams Maddie Drechsel (long jump), Indian Rivers Elizabeth Kolodgy (shot put) and Tupper Lakes Samantha Ormsby (triple jump) and Hannah Klossner (high jump).
FA WINS BOYS TITLE
Four individual winners as well as a title in the 3,200 relay helped Franklin Academy take the boys title at the Section 10 meet with 152 1/2 points. OFA was second with 105.
Malone was led by Morgan Marlow, who won the 1,600 and was named Most Valuable Runner. Malones other wins came from Corey Lamere (3,200), Aaron Sharlow (long jump) and Abe Gravell (high jump).
Indian Rivers Darrius Bryant won the 55 and the triple jump and was named Most Valuable Field Event Performer. OFAs Alex Wood claimed the 600 and 1,000, matching the school record with his winning time in the latter.
Other boys champions included Beaver Rivers Cody Updike (55 hurdles) and Indian Rivers Felix Garcia (300) and Brandon Bliss (shot put).
