POTSDAM Two people were arrested following a weekend incident at Maxfields Restaurant, 15 Market St., Potsdam police said.
Officers were called to Maxfields shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday on a report of an individual refusing to leave. When police tried to speak to Daniel J. Zimmerman, 23, Potsdam, he allegedly pushed an officer.
Mr. Zimmerman was arrested at 1:15 a.m. and charged with second-degree harassment. He was issued an appearance ticket for Potsdam Village Court.
A 24-year-old Erie County woman was arrested 20 minutes after Mr. Zimmerman for allegedly presenting police with a false name and date of birth when questioned. Rebecca A. Cruz, West Seneca, was charged with false personation and issued an appearance ticket for Village Court.
Sundays incident is not the first time Mr. Zimmerman has been accused of lashing out at a police officer. In December 2009, he struck his 16-year-old brother with an acoustic guitar and also bit the hand of the state trooper who tried to arrest him. Mr. Zimmerman pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and resisting arrest, and in August 2010 was given a years conditional discharge and ordered to pay $350 in fines and surcharges.
