To The Editor:

There’s an interesting video clip making it around the internet lately that features an ex-Secret Service man speaking about “gun control.” He begins his remarks by stating that there is no such thing as “gun control.” There is only people control.

Of course he is right. Those staunch old “defenders” of the Solid South, the Ku Klux Klan, who launched the first “gun control” laws in this country shortly after the Civil War, did it to control people. The people they were bent on controlling were the new freedmen who used guns to defend their farms and communities from the KKK’s Night Riders.

“No Freedman Needs A Gun!” screamed one of the headlines of the day.

Today we are treated to “gun control” rhetoric from the political descendents of those original gun grabbers. “Protect the kids!” is their cry. “Get guns out of the hands of honest law abiding citizens” is their cause. Their recent conclaves are the result of the hideous tragedy at Sandy Hook School. They rant and rave and studiously avoid any ideas that might actually address the school shooter problem.

Gun grabbers need an event like Sandy Hook from time to time to stir up their vast constituency that actually believes that grabbing your gun will somehow prevent a crazy from going on a rampage somewhere someday.

The only people in America who have anything to fear from armed law abiding citizens are corrupt politicians with that special gleam in their eyes as they contemplate remaking America into a Fascist paradise where everyone is equal, where by law nobody wants or needs anything, where individual rights are dusty relics written about in banned history books and we have only rulers and there are no leaders.

Of course criminals also fear armed law abiding citizens. But I need not repeat myself.
