Tim McCreadie ended an eight-year absence from victory lane at the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Wednesday night at Volusia Speedway Park in Barbersville, Fla.
The Watertown native nipped Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., by 0.062 seconds at the finish line for his fifth career win during the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals dating back to 2005. McCreadie started third in the 40-lap late model feature.
With a few laps to go, McCreadie was hard pressed by Lanigan and Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., but managed to hold off the challenge.
Danny Johnson of Rochester held off Brett Hearn to win the first race in the Super DIRT Series, the DIRTcar big-block modified feature, at Volusia. Mario Clair of Sainty Edouard, Quebec, finished third.
Tim Fuller of Watertown finished 14th and Rob Bellinger of Dexter was 17th.
