TURIN Lewis County sheriffs deputies seized a vehicle occupied by two Madison County men after allegedly finding hashish and a small amount of marijuana inside it during a traffic stop Friday on Route 12.
Police said in a statement that a vehicle operated by Kristopher D. Jones, 20, West Winfield, was halted about 5:30 p.m. for an unspecified reason. Mr. Jones was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after police said he was driving with a suspended license.
A passenger, later identified as Kamrin T. Krause, 20, Kirkville, was charged with false personation after allegedly giving deputies a false name during the stop. A search of the vehicle by a K-9 unit allegedly turned up a small amount of marijuana, resulting in a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana against Mr. Krause. Deputies said hashish also was found, although the statement did not indicate that either man was charged with possessing a controlled substance.
Deputies, who could not be reached for further comment Saturday, said their investigation is continuing. State police also assisted at the scene.
In addition to the vehicle, which was taken to the Lewis County Public Safety Building, Lowville, $2,500 was seized, deputies said. Both men were arraigned in Town Court and sent to the PSB, with Mr. Krauses bail set at $1,000 and Mr. Joness bail set at $250.
