It’s not about guns

It has come to light that even at this late date thousands of New Yorkers are still without heat and electricity due to Hurricane Sandy. In the face of this, Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposes spending almost $40 million to enforce his pet new gun law. In addition, he is Gestapo-sizing our good state police to enforce it. I have the complete text of the law. It reads like it could have been written in Germany 75 years ago. It does lack the death penalty provisions of the aforementioned laws. However, given the naked hatred of its proponents for gun owners, can they be far behind?

Our liberal justice system released, after just a few years, a sociopath who murdered his mother with a hammer. He then proceeded to shoot two first responders to a fire he started. The average time served for murder is only seven years. Yet, the mere possession of one of the “bad” guns has penalties almost as harsh.

Will we be seeing middle-aged service vets frog-marched to prison for having the illegal eight rounds instead of the maximum allowable seven in the .22s? The upshot is that the proponents of gun confiscation had laws on file, ready to go. They knew another tragedy would happen sooner or later.

If our somnolent citizens would tear themselves away from “American Idol” and other such mind-numbing drivel, perhaps they would realize that they are fast becoming subjects, not citizens. Lawsuits and demonstrations are happening to try to invalidate this law. Hopefully, they will be successful. Wake up, New York. Wake up, America. It’s not about guns; it’s about control.
