Three teenagers face allegations that they shot and injured two pedestrians with a paintball gun early Sunday on Watertown’s east side.

Joseph D. Deegan, 17, of 435 S. Hycliff Dr., Apt. 624-B, Easton C. Castor, 17, of 25568 Ridge Road, and Robin N. Massey, 16, of 525 Water St., are charged by city police with two counts each of second-degree assault, a felony, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

It is alleged that at about 1 a.m. Mr. Deegan and Mr. Massey possessed a paintball gun and used it unlawfully against Eric M. Podvin, 212 Arlington St., by shooting him in the face with it in the 200 block of Arlington Street, creating a risk of serious physical injury and causing swelling and discoloration to the right side of Mr. Podvin’s face. It is also alleged that about 10 minutes later, Daniel A. Horeth, of 717 State St., Apt. 2, was shot in the left hand, causing bruising, in the 500 block of State Street. In each instance, Mr. Castor is charged with the three crimes for allegedly aiding and abetting the other two teens by driving the vehicle in which they were located.

The vehicle was halted in the 300 block of North Hamilton Street, at which time police allegedly found 10 grams of marijuana inside, prompting unlawful possession of marijuana charges against the three occupants. Mr. Castor was also charged with speeding and other traffic counts, as well as with endangering the welfare of a child for allowing Mr. Massey to be a passenger in his vehicle while the alleged criminal acts involving the paintball gun occurred. All three are due to answer the charges in City Court.
