CAPE VINCENT A 17-year-old Cape Vincent youth who allegedly stole batteries off boats and then sold them to various scrap dealers was arrested Wednesday by state police.
Ryan D. Gilligan, 355 S. Esselstyne St., is charged by troopers with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and may face additional counts with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department in the same crime spree, an investigator said.
He awaits prosecution in Cape Vincent Town Court.
The state police charges involve the theft of two batteries at Anchor Marina and about seven at Snug Harbor Marina. He sold the batteries for about $250, police said.
