To The Editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to the many fire departments, individuals, corporations, and financial institutions who have donated to the fund raising effort to build the new live burn fire training simulator at our West Potsdam Training Center.

To date we have raised over two-thirds of our fund raising goal of $450,000. These donations have come in the form of cash and pledges. Our largest pledges of $100,000 coming from state Senators Patty Ritchie, Joseph Griffo and Elizabeth Little and a new $100,000 from Assemblywoman Addie Russell. We were able to construct the foundation for the simulator last summer through a two-thirds funding grant with the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency’s Community Development and Environmental Improvement Fund, and are currently working on a grant for constructing a one-story live burn room annex.

We are keeping an accurate listing of all our contributors, posting them on our web page. We want to take this opportunity to recognize those who have donated. You might see a neighbor, friend or family member who has given in support of their local fire department so they may be better trained to respond to a fire emergency in their home or yours.

We have not reached our goal, and still need your financial support. We ask that you consider a donation now to get us to our completion. You may do so by using our web page at www.firetrainingcenter.org or send a contribution to Dan Basford, treasurer, at P.O. Box 391, Heuvelton, N.Y., 13665-0391.
