SNOWMOBILING WHILE INTOXICATED - MADRID - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Dale H. Champion, 52, of 3154 County Route 14, Madrid, with snowmobiling while intoxicated after they responded to a reported snowmobile accident with injury at 10:39 p.m. Saturday behind the Madrid Town Barns.

Champion told deputies that he was crossing the field between the town barns and the Jones Road at a high rate of speed when he struck some debris inthe field and was ejected from the snowmobile. He complained of internal injuries.

Deputies said their investigation is continuing, and more tickets are pending.

Madrid Fire, Rescue, and First Responders assisted at the accident scene.
