CLAYTON Save the River Executive Director D. Lee Willbanks and Assistant Director Stephanie Weiss will join representatives of several other conservation groups to advocate for the continued restoration and protection of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River during the annual Great Lakes Days today and Thursday in Washington, D.C.
The Clayton-based environmental advocates said in a released statement that Save the River and its partners also will call on state representatives to support the International Joint Commissions Plan Bv7 as a way to increase resilience along the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River shorelines.
As the intensity and frequency of storms increases, having a modern water levels plan developed to take nature and the environment into account just makes sense, Mr. Willbanks said in the statement.
