CANTON — A late St. Lawrence University rally came up just short as SUNY Brockport edged the Saints 9-8 in a nonconference women’s lacrosse game Friday.

SUNY Brockport (2-0) had a 9-4 lead but the Saints rallied with four goals in the final 13 minutes of the game to cut the lead to one.

Former South Jefferson athlete Alyssa Scordo led the Golden Eagles with two goals, and ex-Spartan Liz Algie added one. Hailey Boronzcyk, Ciara McKeon, Makensie Schuber, Nina Tassone, Erin Featherstone and Potsdam native Kaila Maguire also scored for SUNY Brockport.

Brigid Hurley led the Saints (0-1) with four goals. Michaela Maybee scored twice and Stephanie O’Rourke and Chloe Knapp also scored.
